CLABSI Intervention

How the Project Contributes to Strengthening CLABSI Prevention

Although they are largely preventable, central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) continue to pose a serious threat to patient safety and increase morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Consistently implementing preventive measures remains a major challenge.

To strengthen CLABSI prevention in Swiss acute care hospitals, the project team will evaluate current practices and—in close collaboration with partner hospitals—develop an evidence-based prevention package tailored to the Swiss context. This package will include recommendations, implementation resources, and innovative monitoring tools.

The project is led by PD Dr. Niccolò Buetti and Dr. Gaud Catho, who are supported by a small project team and the partner hospitals.
